On the evening of February 21st, Changzhou Municipal People’s Government hosted the 2023 Chinese New Year Reception for Consulates General in Shanghai. The event was attended by the heads of over ten consulates general, representing countries such as Russia, Israel, Austria, Finland, Singapore, Spain, and Vietnam, among others. Mayor Sheng Lei delivered the welcome speech, where she highlighted Changzhou's rich culture, advanced manufacturing, and commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.

The mayor emphasized Changzhou's constant evolution and invited guests to experience the city's unique charm by visiting often. She also shared the city's goal of reaching a one trillion yuan GDP this year, and expressed hope that the consulates in Shanghai would continue to support Changzhou's efforts in opening up and development.

The reception served as a gateway for Changzhou to expand its global reach and for the world to gain better insight into the city. Through this platform, Changzhou has had the privilege of engaging in fruitful exchanges and fostering cooperation, which has further invigorated Changzhou’s commitment to open up and develop with renewed vigor and ever-expanding horizons.

Changzhou has established friendship-city relationships with 54 cities across five continents in 27 countries, and over 3,000 foreign-invested companies operate in the city. Furthermore, about 70 Fortune Global 500 companies have invested in 121 programs in Changzhou. The city has also established several national and provincial-level industrial parks in partnership with countries such as Israel, Germany, Switzerland, and Japan.
