On August 8, the 11-day-long “Root Seeking” Summer Camp--Changzhou Camp was officially closed. Fang Guoqiang, deputy mayor of the Municipal People’s Government, Chen Jianxin, director of the Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Dai Xiaorong, director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the Municipal Committee of CPPCC, Zhang Zhehao, president of Changzhou Overseas Exchange Association, Jiang Pengju, chairman of the Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Yang Meiying, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Wujin District, Qin Yilin, president of Changzhou Technical Institute of Tourism & Commerce, Zhang Weixian, president of Wujin Central School of Vocational Education, and other leaders from relevant departments, as well as the overseas Chinese teenagers and team leaders from Germany, the United States and Spain attended the closing ceremony.

During the summer camp, 82 campers and team leaders visited the Oriental Saltlake Resort, Universal Dinosaur Town, Spring & Autumn Yancheng Scenic Spot, Changzhou Museum, Changzhou City Plan Exhibition Hall, and watched performances at the Changzhou Grand Theatre.

Fang Guoqiang said that in the future, Changzhou will continue to carry out this program so that more overseas teenagers of Chinese descent can come to Changzhou to learn more about Chinese culture and experience the city's customs.

At the closing ceremony, honorary certificates were issued to the outstanding campers, outstanding team leaders and outstanding volunteers of the summer camp.

Changzhou has carried out the “Root Seeking” Summer Camp program for 8 consecutive years, organizing activities for more than 600 overseas teenagers of Chinese descent.
