Changzhou tops South Jiangsu in terms of industrial investments

This year marks the “Key Project Advance Year” for Changzhou and the Changzhou Municipal People’s Government is accelerating the supply side reform and working hard for economic restructuring. As a result, the local industry has been on a fast growth, the smart city campaign is deepening, and the informatization has been on a steady rise.


In the morning of July 27th, the Changzhou Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology unveiled the first half year’s data of Changzhou’s economic development and informatization. In terms of major economic indicators, the aggregate output value of the industrial enterprises above the designated size in the the first half of 2017 reached 664.85 billion RMB, up by 12.9%. And these companies’ revenues from their primary businesses grew by 14.7% to 668.95 billion RMB while the total profits rose by 16.1% to 35.23 billion RMB. Meanwhile, key performance indicators of these enterprises also improved. 17.2% of these companies suffered losses, down by 0.7%.


The city’s industrial investment data are outstanding. In terms of both total industrial investments and investment growth, Changzhou tops South Jiangsu. In particular, the city saw an input tax reduction of 2.41 billion RMB, up by 30.4%.


The city has also been saving energy, cutting emissions, promoting green manufacturing, and eliminating backward and excessive production capacities. In the first half of 2017, the city cut a cement production capacity of 1.2 million tons and advanced 12 provincial backward-production-capacity -cutting projects. Besides, two local companies were selected into the national integrated green manufacturing list. Moreover, the city shut down or suspended 113 chemical companies, 63.8 % complete of the provincial target and 50.7% complete of the municipal target.


Furthermore, the city’s informatization has been on a steady rise. The city’s 2016 local informatization indicator was 92.94 and the industrialization-informatization integration indicator stood at 98.81, ranking Changzhou the 4th place in Jiangsu.
