On August 18th, 2015, the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with AVIC, which decided to co-establish the AVIC Green Power Technology Park in Jintan. The park will focus on the development of lithium-ion batteries and other green power sectors to promote Jiangsu’s green power industry during the period of the 13th Five-Year Plan.

This project is expecting to have a total investment of 12.5 billion yuan.

The construction is divided into three phases: firstly an investment of 3 billion yuan to build 2.5 billion watt-hour lithium-ion battery production capacity which will be put into operation in November this year; secondly the 4.5 billion watt-hour project to be started this year; and the overall objectives to be completed in 2017. By then, the park will have 12 billion watt-hour production capacity and sales volume of 20 billion yuan per year. It will become one of the largest lithium-ion battery production bases in China.

According to Wang Chongling, president of China Aviation Lithium Battery (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., the green power projects, especially lithium-ion batteries, are crucial to energy-saving and environmental protection, as well as eliminating smog in China. In the next 10 years, lithium-ion batteries will be widely applied to new energy electric vehicles, electricity storage, communications base stations, rail transportation, mining equipment and military.

It is learned that the AVIC Green Power Technology Park & Lithium-ion Battery Project has made a major breakthrough in investment attraction. Many companies involved in battery separator, anode and cathode materials, precision components and system integration businesses have already decided to join the park. By 2020, the companies settled in will have a total investment of over 20 billion yuan, expecting to achieve sales revenue of more than 50 billion yuan. They will form a relatively complete industrial chain of lithium-ion battery, and will become the domestic first-class "Green Power Valley" with global influence.
