On April 19th, Changzhou John Hughes Institute of Visual Arts was established in Changzhou Institute of Technology, chaired by John Patrick Hughes, a prominent artist of visual arts from Hollywood. The institute has introduced technologies of special effects and visual arts from Hollywood, which will offer students the opportunities to participate in Hollywood filmmaking.

Xu Guanghui, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and secretary of the Party Working Committee of Changzhou Science and Education Town, received Hughes and his team in the afternoon.

“Changzhou has a long history and rich cultural resources, with booming cultural undertakings,” said Xu. “Meanwhile, Changzhou is a national base of creative industries and animation, home to Jiangsu West Taihu Lake Film & Television Industry Base and many other theme parks on movie culture and animation, which has laid a foundation for film, television and visual arts.” Xu hoped that Changzhou Institute of Technology would take full advantage of the cooperation to nurture more talent in visual effects.

It is reported that John Patrick Hughes is the founder and runner of R&H, a well-known visual effects company. R&H has received the Academy Awards seven times, three of which are for Best Visual Effects for Babe, The Golden Compass and Life of Pi.

John Hughes will take part in teaching business and management.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the production of Hollywood movies by John Hughes, in order to learn more about the first-class filmmaking and visual effects.
