Changzhou ranked 15th on the scientific and technological innovation index for the year 2022, according to a report on Chinese development in those fields released by the Capital Institute of Science and Technology Development Strategy (CISTDS).

The top 20 cities on the scientific and technological innovation index are:

Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuhan, Tianjin, Xi’an, Hefei, Changsha, Chengdu, Zhuhai, Changzhou, Dongguan, Wuxi, Jinan, Qingdao, and Chongqing.

A huge gap remains among Chinese cities in scientific and technological innovation, requiring further reforms to stimulate market forces and unleash the vitality of innovation factors, the report said, adding that Chinese cities should strengthen links with major innovation cities around the world and explore new models of cooperation.
