The 20th Yangtze River Delta Science and Technology Forum, also known as the 2023 Jiangsu Science and Technology Forum, was held in Liyang from October 18th to October 20th.

Nearly thirty academicians and experts discussed and exchanged ideas on the latest technological frontiers and innovative applications, providing suggestions for scientific and technological innovation cooperation, industrial development integration, and some other aspects.

The theme of this year’s forum is “Consolidating Innovation Energy to Build a Highland of Sci-Tech Innovation - Supporting the High Quality Development of Yangtze River Delta Integration with High Level Technology Self-reliance and Self-improvement”.

“Our research field is using superconducting technology to make electronic devices, which can be applied at very low temperatures, minus 200 degrees Celsius, and can measure very weak signals. It can be used to measure space debris, which will have a great impact on the further development of the aerospace industry”, Wu Peiheng, CAS Member, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Nanjing University, said.

“Jiangsu has excellent scientific and technological resources and strong technological strength. We need to use this platform to promote Jiangsu to truly become a driving force for the development of the national economy through technological innovation”, Miao Changwen, CAE academician, professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Southeast University, said.

At the opening ceremony, the Jiangsu Provincial Association for Science and Technology signed strategic cooperation agreements with 10 national-level associations such as the Chinese Pharmacological Society, actively docking with high-end resources to serve the major industrial development of Jiangsu. The Government of Liyang  signed special strategic cooperation agreements with five national-level societies, including the China Electrical Engineering Society.

In the next step, Jiangsu will focus on tackling major scientific and technological projects, strengthen the popularization and promotion of science and technology, promote scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, and contribute wisdom and strength to the  “Science and Technology Innovation China” initiative and the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta integration.
