City leaders meet with senior officials of Yaskawa Electric in Nanjing

On the morning of February 11, Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu Provincial Government, Wang Quan, secretary of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, and Ding Chun, mayor of Changzhou Municipal Government, met with Mr. Hiroshi Ogasawara, Yaskawa Electric Corporation’s president, in Nanjing to jointly promote the development of major projects in Changzhou.

Wu Zhenglong received Mr. Ogasawara and his delegation. He said that as Yaskawa Electric is a world leader in the robot industry, especially in the field of industrial robots. Since Yaskawa set up its first overseas robot production base in Changzhou, the cooperation between the two sides has achieved fruitful results. It is hoped that Yaskawa and Jiangsu will jointly promote the high-quality development of robot industry. Governments at all levels in Jiangsu will continue to optimize the business environment and promote the development of industrial clusters.

Mr. Ogasawara said that since Yaskawa Electric settled in Changzhou, the company has received the support of governments at all levels in Jiangsu. Yaskawa will continue to deepen its pragmatic cooperation with Jiangsu and grow together with the other enterprises in the robot industry chain.

During the stay in Nanjing, Wang Quan and Ding Chun held talks with Mr. Ogasawara. Wang Quan said that Changzhou is now building a high-quality industrial star city, and encourages enterprises to develop towards the direction of intelligent manufacturing. At the same time, Changzhou is making efforts to promote the development of the robot industry. It is hoped that Yaskawa Electric will play a bigger role in this progress. Governments at all levels in Changzhou will provide a better business environment for enterprises’ development.

Mr. Ogasawara is very satisfied with the investment environment in Changzhou. He said that Yaskawa Electric has the confidence to achieve faster development in Changzhou.

Founded in 1915, Yaskawa Electric is headquartered in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Yaskawa’s core technologies are “motion control,” ”robotics,” and “power conversion.” In recent years, expectations for its solutions provided with servos and robots are increasing in response to challenges such as automation or labor saving against the backdrop of workforce shortage and rise of labor cost mainly in China.

In March 2012, Yaskawa Electric established the first overseas robot manufacturing base in Wujin High-Tech Industrial Zone, Changzhou. The company has an annual production capacity of 18,000 units, which is the largest robot production base in the world.
