On November 15th, the Maoshan Climbing Festival 2014 co-organized by Jiangsu Provincial Sports Administration and Jintan Government was opened. A total of 49 teams composed of approximately 500 people throughout Jiangsu participated in the climbing competition.

Initiated in 1996, the Maoshan Climbing Festival has been successfully held for 18 sessions, which is one of the Top Ten Fitness Events in Jiangsu rated by the Provincial Tourism Administration.

Compared to the previous sessions, this year's climbing competition has several new features. Firstly, the route is changed from one way to a round route, starting from the cable port of Maoshan Resort, passing Chongshou Temple, Sanqing Temple, Nanhai Villa and China Baosheng Park, and then turning back to the cable port. Secondly, the distance is extended from 10 km to 13 km. Thirdly, a new team composed of 28 ‘new citizens’ is invited, the members of which are living in Jintan without household registration, including a few foreigners.

Sebastean, a German young man who came to China 14 months ago, attended climbing competition for the first time in his life. He said that although very tired, it was a very good workout experience, and he would love to attend the event again if he would be in Jintan the next year.
