According to the latest survey of the statistics department, Changzhou recently has a total of 61 markets each with annual revenue of 100 million yuan or above. In 2013 these markets achieved turnover of 194.75 billion yuan, an increase of 3 percent over the previous year, the equivalent of 34.2% of the city's total wholesale and retail sales.

Such markets cover ranges of industrial raw materials, consumer goods, agricultural products, etc. Among them, there are 34 wholesale-based markets and 27 retail-based markets, total up to 38,350 rental stalls, an occupancy rate of 90.3%, offering 122,000 jobs.
