On August 15, at the invitation of the Indian Consulate General in Shanghai, Sima Shuanglong, deputy director of the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, led a delegation to the 72nd Independence Day reception and had friendly exchanges with consul general Mr. Anil Kumar Rai.

Mr. Rai in his remarks extended a warm welcome to all and spoke on rapid growth of Indian economy, investments and developments in the Social sector. He pointed out that the leadership and the people of India are working hard to achieve and maintain a transformative growth trajectory. The evening also witnessed a traditional Indian music performance by two talented Indian artists, Monit Paul on Sarod and Rishabh Dhar on Pakhawaj. The audience got a taste of the soulful rendition of Classical Indian music. Later, a diverse spread of Indian food was also served to the Guests, to showcase India’s vast diversity and rich culinary traditions.

In recent years, Changzhou has strengthened exchanges and cooperation with the Indian Consulate General in Shanghai. On January 17 this year, the China-India Trade & Investment Seminar was held in Changzhou to respond to the Belt and Road Initiative, in order to encourage local enterprises to invest in India and improve their international competitiveness.
