Since Changzhou started the general survey of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in 2003, more than 1200 items have been identified as ICH by the end of 2009. Meanwhile, a complete system of ICH list has been set up, including 14 ICH descendants at provincial or national level.

On the other hand, Changzhou Folklore Research Federation is working hard on the programs of building Changzhou Folklore Museum, compiling Changzhou Folklore Series and developing Shengxi Ancient Village tourist resort.
